Having held the annual Ramsbury and Axford golf competition over a number of years, popular demand has resulted in the formation of the Ramsbury and Axford Golf Society – otherwise known as ‘RAGS’.

The Society was formed in the autumn of 2006, in order to promote the game of golf via a number of organised events at different courses throughout the year and have fun. The first event held by the Society took place in December 2006 at Ogbourne Downs Golf Club. Two other events are already planned for 2007 – the Spring Stableford at Tidworth and the Ramsbury Trophy on May bank holiday.

The Society is open to the residents of Ramsbury and Axford, as-well as adjacent villages. Also, the Society is available to those who no longer live in the area, but wish to maintain a link with old friends and participate in the organised games. New members are encouraged to join. An application form can be obtained via the Society’s web site www.ragsgolf.co.uk or from the Post Office or Midway Stores in Ramsbury. The web site also provides additional information about the Society including forthcoming events.

The Society is run by a Committee of members who will operate the Society according to the rules laid down by the Society’s Constitution. The Committee members meet regularly and donate their time and efforts to help ensure that all events and general affairs of the Society are carried out in an efficient and sporting manner.
